Why did Duck Tours close?
The Branson operation was sold to Ripley Entertainment in December 2017. In 2019 Ripley announced that Ride The Ducks in Branson would be permanently shut down and replaced by another attraction due to the July 2018 accident on Table Rock Lake where 17 people drowned.

Though the origin of this term is unknown, it probably refers to the odd shape of the vehicle. DUKWs became known as “Ducks” and are still in use, as well as purpose-built amphibious tour buses, primarily as tourist transport in harbor and river cities.
